I admit this app has been crucial to getting me to journal more frequently. And maybe $5 and tax is worth that.
But on the whole, it seems the key to this apps success is the fact that its got a following already, no one seems to mind the price tag. For starters, it is extremely lacking in features...and I can appreciate minimalism, no problem. Its just that there are certain things missing that could make this a flawless app.
For example, I cant count the number of times have I typed out my daily entry and forgotten to save, leave the app, only to return to a blank page. Everything gone. Autosave is the least they could have, no?
I can understand the lack of a customizable/dynamic/creative visual aesthetic. I can understand the lack of calendars, icons and visual aids. But why have the picture of the day and nothing else? Not only is it placed first on the list (what?) it seems like an arbitrary addition to the journaling process. The developers could easily add a selection of add-ons for the user to customize and beef up their journaling experience. Perhaps a simple version of the journal (identical to the book version) and one that enables you to create the journal you always wanted. Thats what 5 bucks should get you these days...
